This Engineering Manager role will influence key consumer and merchant experiences for
PayPal s India based customers. The person is a highly motivated, versatile, hands-on Engineering Manager responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers, helping with design, implementation and delivering of state-of-the-art web and mobile experiences for the customers in India and similar emerging markets. The ideal candidate is an individual with deep experiences in building customer facing products that involve web interfaces, mobile applications, as well as mid-tier and backend components. Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic and a collaborative mind set are key to the success of this role. The prospective candidate will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Manages multiple projects through direct reports and may directly manage individual software development projects. Ensures project delivery through supervision of costs, methods, and staffing
- Sets operational targets that impact their group and drives operational rigor around engineering KPIs such as unit test coverage, uptime/resiliency targets, execution velocity
- Responsible for the delivery of projects and continuous improvement that impact up to three domains
- Leads the effort in resolving highly complex or unique technical situations that impact business success or addresses future concepts, products, or technologies
- Creates the roadmap for multiple scrum teams. Responsible for turning a high-level operational strategy into a well-defined resourcing plan
- Demonstrates perseverance in pursuing difficult, complex, or ambiguous goals or problems, applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Collaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders, managers in other orgs and business stakeholders
Expected Qualifications
- 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience leading others

- Exhibit leadership and management skills to design, develop and deliver high impact initiatives for PayPal India and emerging markets.
- Responsible for end-end development life cycle of web and mobile products and features.
- Manage the daily activities of the engineering team working on Agile scrum model.
- Demonstrate high degree of people focus and be a team player who can collaborate effectively across various teams within PayPal with integrity and commitment.
- Be highly customer centric and bat towards delivering customer delight through the. products and features.
- Act as a bridge between product and technology teams and many business needs with technology solves.
- Demonstrate Team and Stakeholder management skills towards meeting project timelines and delivery commitments.
- Work closely with our integration teams and merchant partners to arrive at best-in-class payments experiences for our merchants.
- Actively work towards developing products that meet high standards of convenience, security, performance and reliability for our consumers and merchants.
- Work closely with the solutions architect, engineering leaders and the engineering team to deliver solutions for the customers.
- Have strong business and technical vision and the ability to communicate this vision to multiple audiences. Sense evolving business trends and translate them into needs into technology solves.

Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience with building large-scale web and mobile based software
- Solid understanding of Web platforms, scripting technologies with keen focus on ease of use, security and performance.
- Strong Object-oriented programming skills and expertise in one of Java/J2EE or C++.
- Working experience with databases such as MSSQL/ Oracle etc.
- Knowledge of mobile programming in Android/iOS is a plus.
- Experience and exposure to one or few of the following Python or Scala or NoSQL.
Qualifications
