Sr. Internal Communications Lead

This is an individual contributor role, based in Pune expected to work in hybrid model.

You will be reporting to the SVP, Customer Experience Operations, youll partner with leaders across the business to create engaging, strategic communications that inform, inspire, and connect 700+ employees worldwide. You'll design messaging strategies that cut through the noise, strengthen Avalaras culture, and enable employees to understand and contribute to our transformation journey.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Design and deliver strategic communications plans aligned to Avalaras business priorities, culture, and brand voice.
• Partner with senior leaders to craft clear, engaging narratives that mobilize teams and reinforce Avalaras values.
• Lead multi-channel campaigns (intranet, newsletters, live events, video, email, SharePoint) that reach global audiences.
• Drive executive-level storytelling helping leaders connect authentically with their teams through speeches, town halls, and leadership summits.
• Build editorial calendars, standards, and templates that scale across the organization.
• Coach and advise managers on effective communication practices to strengthen alignment and engagement.
• Innovate with new formats, channels, and technologies (AI, video, digital platforms) to increase reach and impact.
• Provide metrics, insights, and feedback loops to continuously improve communication effectiveness.

What You'll Need to be Successful

• 8+ years in communications, PR, or employee engagement (ideally in tech, SaaS, or global organizations).
• Strong command of business English, with proven ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging for senior leaders and diverse global teams.
• Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills across formats and audiences.
• Proven ability to influence and advise executives with confidence.
• Skilled in digital communication platforms (SharePoint, Microsoft Suite, intranet tools, video editing).
• Experience managing large-scale internal events and campaigns.
• High EQ and relationship-building skills; able to connect across geographies, cultures, and levels.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, rapidly and consistently changing environment.
• A creative, innovative mindset with an eye for design and brand consistency.
• Experience leading meetings and presenting work to the Director level and above, and display a high degree of confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive topics.
