Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Troubleshooting:

    Carry out advanced level troubleshooting on

    Linux OS

    and applications.
  • Client Support:

    Extend technical support to clients over email and phone.
  • System Uptime:

    Responsible for the uptime of various client projects being managed/monitored.
  • Ticketing & SLA Adherence:

    Ensure that tickets raised per shift are closed as per SLA; if not, escalate per escalation matrix. Technically update tickets in the ticketing system for all issues handled/worked upon.
  • Reporting:

    Generate shift reports on daily issues handled/escalated in the form of Daily reports.
  • Change Management:

    Work on change requests.
  • Patching & Upgrades:

    Apply patches to the OS or upgrade the OS as and when required, as per approval from respective Team Leaders.
  • Monitoring Management:

    Perform monitoring management of agents like Deep security, SIEM BMC TSA/TSOM, Commvault.
  • Issue Resolution:

    Ensure earlier resolution to issues to meet SLA.
  • Vendor Follow-up:

    Follow up with Vendors or other teams (hardware/software) whenever required to resolve issues by minimizing downtimes.
  • Server Lifecycle Management:

    Oversee commissioning and decommissioning of servers.
  • Application Installation:

    Install infrastructure applications as applicable.
  • Project & Initiative Work:

    Work on project work and drive initiatives as applicable.
  • Proactive Maintenance:

    Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure to ensure a 24x7x365 uptime service.
  • Best Practices:

    Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
  • Fault Finding & Analysis:

    Perform fault finding, analysis, and logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.
  • Performance & Capacity Planning:

    Proactively monitor system performance and engage in capacity planning.
  • Software Management:

    Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades and patches on servers.
  • Scripting:

    Create and modify scripts to perform daily operational tasks.
  • Process Improvement:

    Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
  • Automation Collaboration:

    Collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategy and deployment processes.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in

    Linux OS

    and application troubleshooting.
  • Good communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to ensure uptime for client projects.
  • Skills in managing and updating tickets in a ticketing system according to SLAs.
  • Proficiency in generating daily shift reports.
  • Ability to work on change requests.
  • Skills in applying patches and upgrading OS.
  • Proficiency in monitoring management tools like

    Bind, Apache, postfix, MTA, squid, nginx

  • Familiarity with

    load balancing, firewalls

  • Knowledge of protocols such as

    DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP

  • Proficient with network tools such as

    iptables, tcpdump, HA-Proxy

  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies, such as

    VMware, KVM

  • Proficiency with monitoring tools like

    Nagios

  • Skills in

    RHEL patching activity to close VA observations

    .
  • Proficiency in

    LVM (logical volume manager) administration and User administration

    .
  • Knowledge of

    SCD, VAPT, OS Hardening

    .
  • Ability to perform Minor and Major version upgrades.
