Role & responsibilities

Surya Foods is one of the largest suppliers of authentic world foods to the UK food sector.

Our unrivalled, extensive world food ranges have seen Surya Foods become the biggest supplier of world food lines into supermarket giants Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Morrisons.

Duties:

• Create and maintain accurate product specifications, including ingredient lists, nutritional information, allergen declarations, and cooking instructions.
• Ensure that all specifications comply with relevant food regulations, customer requirements, and industry standards.
• Review and sign-off of all Raw Ingredient Specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality control, and production, to gather necessary information and resolve specification-related issues.
• Conduct regular reviews and updates of product specifications to accommodate changes in ingredients, recipes, and processes.
• Final label sign-offs for new products
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate and up-to-date information on raw materials and ingredients.
• Assist in the development of labelling and packaging materials to meet legal requirements and customer expectations.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements

Personal Profile:

• Experience of online retailer specification portals
• Proven artwork experience (nutritional , ingredient declarations etc)
• A food related degree ideally or equivalent qualification
• Strong communication skills for dealing with suppliers and customers
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Strong understanding of the food manufacturing industry

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar role within the food industry is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of food labelling regulations and food safety standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using specification management software is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
