Job Description

Domnic Lewis is mandated to work for the Specialist - Mechanical Design position at Pune location

Role & Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end design and development
Translate business/user requirements into product definitions and high-level product designs.
Create concepts for architecture, prototypes, and evaluate prototypes for fit, function, and assembly.
Develop detailed CAD designs of complete assemblies and release engineering drawings for part/assembly development.
Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BoM) and perform BoM cost evaluations.
Facilitate discussions and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as project management, sourcing, manufacturing, industrial design, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
Work with quality and testing teams to prepare detailed test plans for product validation.
Lead the project according to established New Product Development (NPD) processes and be responsible for deliverables at each stage.
Conduct periodic Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and design review discussions with internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Drive innovation in design and explore creative alternate design approaches.
Select materials/grades required for different parts (plastic, metal, rubber) based on functional/engineering requirements.
Engage in value engineering/value analysis and design changes for cost and quality benefits.

Expected Competencies:

Technical:

Proficient in creating and developing DFMEA for products, with an understanding of PFMEA and UFMEA documents.
Experienced in end-to-end design and development of products.
Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experience in performing tolerance stack-ups for sub-assemblies and assemblies.
Skilled in problem-solving through engineering evaluations, simulations, and/or design of experiments.
Familiar with Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) tools.
Understanding of manufacturing processes for plastic, sheet metal, and metal components, and designing parts considering manufacturing considerations.
Proficient in creating/collaborating on in-depth test plans for product validation.
Hands-on experience in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
Experienced in using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for product design and documentation.
Preferred experience in appliance design, but not mandatory.
Proficient in root cause analysis of failures/issues.
