Spares Planning and Storage Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Create a spare parts list based on manufacturers recommendations and maintenance plans. Categorize spares into groups such as critical, fast-moving, slow-moving, mechanical, electrical, and consumables.
• Maintain material master records in SAP and Carls for all spare parts. Set reorder points based on buffer stock calculations. Ensure system updates reflect inventory changes and machine additions.
• Define buffer stock quantities per spare part based on factors like usage rates, lead times, criticality, and machine/equipment importance.
• Use formula-based approaches considering maximum and average demand and lead times to calculate buffer stock levels.
• Implement periodic review and update of buffer stock levels especially when new machines/equipment are added or removed.
• Identify and qualify local suppliers to reduce lead times and costs. Establish agreements where suppliers maintain buffer stock of key spares and supply on-demand.
• Periodically analyze inventory by classification to identify obsolete, slow-moving, or non-moving items. Take corrective actions such as stock clearance, supplier negotiations, or revising buffer stock policies.
• Efficiently manage warehouse operations including spares receipt, storage, issuance, and handling special storage requirements. Streamline procurement processes aligned with maintenance schedules and buffer stock policies.

Track shelf life of consumable spares and implement FIFO (first in first out) principles. Monitor usage rates for timely replenishment and avoid wastage

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors or Diploma in engineering with 5+ years of experience in spares management.
• Knowledge of CNC machining, Special Process equipment and maintenance consumables.
• Proficient in MS applications and maintenance tools
