Planning - Solution Architect Lead (Telecom, Transmission, NOC, SOC, IT, OSP)

Planning - Solution Architect Lead

Role & responsibilities

Telecom Transmission (DWDM, IP-MPLS):

  • Design and plan robust DWDM and IP-MPLS network architectures for high-capacity, low-latency data transmission.
  • Define and implement network capacity planning, including traffic engineering and QoS optimization.
  • Evaluate and integrate next-generation technologies like 400G, flexible grid, and SDN into the transmission layer.
  • Develop redundancy and disaster recovery solutions to ensure uninterrupted services.

Network Operations Center (NOC):

  • Plan and oversee the establishment of NOC frameworks to monitor, analyze, and resolve network performance issues.
  • Define KPIs and SLAs for proactive network monitoring and incident management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement real-time analytics and fault-detection mechanisms.
  • Integrate AI/ML solutions to enhance predictive maintenance and network automation.

Security Operations Center (SOC):

  • Architect and implement SOC solutions to monitor and manage cybersecurity risks across networks and IT systems.
  • Plan for seamless integration of SOC with NOC to ensure unified incident management and response.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, compliance standards (ISO 27001, GDPR), and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure SOC capabilities align with global threat intelligence frameworks and best practices.

IT Infrastructure Planning:

  • Design IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, virtualization and cloud-based systems.
  • Develop strategies for IT-telecom convergence to support unified operations and analytics.
  • Plan for scalable and resilient IT applications to support organizational growth and digital transformation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards for cybersecurity, data privacy, and IT governance.

Outside Plant (OSP) Network Planning:

  • Lead the design and implementation of OSP networks, including fiber deployment, PoPs, and tower infrastructure.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments for OSP projects.
  • Address RoW (Right of Way) challenges, environmental clearances, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure efficient resource utilization and optimization of physical infrastructure deployments.

Leadership and Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Manage and mentor teams of engineers, analysts, and planners across domains.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, government agencies, and business units.
  • Drive alignment between technical solutions and business objectives to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Communicate technical plans and progress effectively to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

Strategic Planning and Innovation:

  • Identify emerging technologies in telecom, IT, and security domains to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and maintain long-term roadmaps for network evolution and operational excellence.
  • Make risk mitigation strategies for complex, multi-domain projects.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement, automation, and cost optimization.

Preferred candidate profile

Technical Expertise:

  • Transmission Technologies:

    Proficiency in DWDM, IP-MPLS, Ethernet, SDH/OTN and related standards.
  • NOC/SOC Systems:

    Experience with tools like SolarWinds, Splunk, FortiSIEM, and AI/ML analytics platforms.
  • IT Infrastructure:

    Strong knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and IT systems.
  • OSP Networks:

    In-depth understanding of fiber optics, PoP design, RF planning and deployment challenges.
  • Security Frameworks:

    Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (ISO 27001, NIST) and compliance frameworks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership and team-building skills to drive high-performance teams.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields.
  • Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, MEF-CECP, AWS Solutions Architect, PMP, and CISSP or equivalents are desirable.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in telecom, IT, or related industries with expertise in multi-domain network planning and solution architecture.
