Solar Design Draftsman

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Solar Design Draftsman to join our team. The Solar Design Draftsman will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of solar energy projects by creating accurate and precise technical drawings and plans. This position requires proficiency in CAD software, a strong understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Conduct site assessments to gather relevant information for drafting purposes, including site dimensions, topography, shading analysis, and structural considerations.

2.   Good understanding of drafting standards, engineering principles, and technical drawing practices.

3.   Design solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, inverters, racking systems, and electrical layouts.

4.   Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD & Sketch-up, with the ability to create 2D and 3D drawings, schematics, and layouts for solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, mounting structures, electrical components, structural drawings, and equipment layouts diagrams.

5.   Knowledge of electrical systems, SLD, BOQ/BOM, including wiring diagrams and Single Line Diagrams is advantageous.

6.   Ensure that all drawings and plans comply with industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.

7.   Optimize system designs to maximize energy production, taking into account factors such as shading, shading analysis, orientation, and tilt angle.

8.   Generate project proposals, specifications, and documentation for client review and approval.

9.   Work closely with engineers, installation teams and project managers to translate design specifications and requirements into comprehensive drawings and plans.

10. Generate material lists, bill of materials (BOM), and other documentation necessary for procurement and construction activities.

11. Experience with solar modelling software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) is desirable but not required.

Qualifications:

1.   Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy.

2.   At least 1-2 Years experience as a draftsman, preferably in the field of renewable energy or construction.

3.   Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
