Job Description

Responsibilities

Compose Build: Develop scalable, distributed, and highly available backend systems and services that support eBay s global marketplace platform.
End-to-End Ownership: Take full responsibility for subsystems within a larger domain, managing the entire software lifecycle design, development, testing, deployment, observability, and monitoring.
High-Quality Code: Translate product and build requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable production-ready code.
Testing Automation: Develop automated tests, implement Test-First Development (TFD), and contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
Technical Excellence: Build and implement microservices, ensuring strong performance, fault tolerance, and scalability across complex distributed systems.
Collaboration: Partner effectively with product managers, designers, and other engineers to align technical decisions with business priorities.
Code Reviews Documentation: Perform code reviews, keep documentation up-to-date, and advocate for engineering guidelines throughout teams.
Evidence-Centered Development: Build testable, measurable features that support continuous improvement and faster delivery cycles.
Operational Support: Participate in release management, on-call rotations, and incident response to maintain an always-on platform.
Continuous Improvement: Propose and evaluate multiple build options, identify areas for optimization, and drive technical excellence across projects.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented build (OOA/D).
Proven experience building data-driven applications using RDBMS, NoSQL, and ElasticSearch.
Hands-on experience crafting and developing microservices-based architectures.
Expertise in Java, GraphQL, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
Skilled in delivering results within Agile, TDD, and CI/CD environments.
Strong understanding of distributed systems development, scalability principles, and performance optimization.

Experience

Possessing 4+ years of expertise in backend software development, specializing in constructing extensive, distributed web platforms and APIs.
Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and operate high-impact services in production environments.

Education

Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
