Job Description

Role Overview: As a Multispecialty Surgery Coding SME (Professional & Facility), you will be responsible for serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in both professional and facility surgery coding. Your role will involve providing extensive knowledge, training, auditing, and guidance on complex surgical coding across various specialties, ensuring adherence to ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and CMS guidelines. Key Responsibilities: - Act as the primary resource for addressing inquiries related to multispecialty surgical coding for both professional and facility settings. - Accurately assign codes for intricate surgical procedures in specialties such as orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurological, digestive, urology, general surgery, IVR, and transplant cases. - Review operative reports, anesthesia notes, and other clinical documents to ensure the accurate assignment of codes. - Offer training, guidance, and mentorship to coders and auditors dealing with complex surgical scenarios. - Conduct audits, root cause analyses, and compliance reviews to pinpoint coding/documentation discrepancies. - Develop and implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workflow enhancements for professional and facility surgery coding. Qualifications & Skills: - Hold a certification in CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC (CCDS or CCDS-O preferred). - Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in multispecialty professional and facility coding, with a particular emphasis on surgical coding. - Previous experience as an SME, trainer, or auditor in coding operations is advantageous. - Exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. - Proficient in handling 3M, Optum, Encoder, or other prominent HIM/coding applications.,
