SME - Mainframe IMS DBA – System Support

The Role

As a Systems Programmer at Kyndryl, you'll have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. Not only will you be responsible for ensuring the security of our computer systems, but you'll also work closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology that keeps Kyndryl ahead of the curve.In this role, you'll provide the underlying Mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support that forms the backbone of our applications. You'll guide functional objectives on technologies and make use of your expert knowledge to drive solutions to complex problems.As a leader in this field, you'll also be expected to conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams. You may even manage departments on a national or international level, defining objectives and managing resources to ensure the success of your projects.Your expertise will be crucial in influencing people outside of your department or function, and you'll have the opportunity to directly shape the technology landscape of the world we live in. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support and guidance to developers working with IMS databases.
• Work closely with application development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
• Ensure IMS systems are synchronized with DR environments.
• Implement user access control, authentication, and authorization for IMS databases.
• Monitor IMS database and transaction performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Perform database reorganization, restructuring, and tuning to ensure optimal performance.

Required Skills and Experience

• 9+ Years of Experience in Mainframe IMS System Programming.
• Experience with IMS system software and related program products software. installation, migrations, customization and maintenance.
• Must have experience with SMP/E maintenance utility, DBMS security interfaces, familiar with DBMS connection interfaces to other subsystems (DB2/CICS/etc) and network VTAM/IP functionality.
• Experience in IMS backup and recovery scenarios - traditional image copy, FLASH, mirroring etc., methodology.
• Plan and perform Health Checks and Analysis
• Very good knowledge of IMS database organization
• Performance analysis & tuning for DBMS subsystems
• IMS Monitoring Tool- Proficient- Required Monitoring tool
• Proficient in JCL, TSO/SDSF/JES2/SYSVIEW/SMP/E
• Ability to debug & diagnose DBMS system and utility software
• Requires IMS Sysplex experience & data sharing expertise
• Various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE).
• Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process - Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience with IMS system software and related program products software. installation, migrations, customization and maintenance.
• Sound knowledge about IMS Logging - OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS
• Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets
• Experience in problem debugging and Vendor specific PMR ticketing procedure.
