Role summary

You’ll own product discoverability on Shopify — end-to-end product listing creation, SEO copy that converts, structured data/schema implementation, collection & filter hygiene, and continual optimization to grow organic traffic and SKU conversion rates. This is a hands-on, execution-first role that sits at the intersection of merchandising, content, and growth.


Key responsibilities
  • Create, optimize, and publish high-quality product pages (titles, bullets, long descriptions, variants) in Shopify Admin (CSV bulk & API workflows).
  • Write SEO-first product copy: keyword-led titles, meta titles & descriptions, H1/H2s, image alt texts.
  • Implement and maintain product structured data (JSON-LD/schema.org) and ensure valid rich results.
  • Maintain collections, tags, filters, smart collections, and navigation for discoverability and UX.
  • Image optimization: filename conventions, alt text, lazy loading checks, and compressed assets for fastest load.
  • QA product data: SKUs, inventory sync, weights, variants, dimensions, GTINs, vendor/brand fields.
  • Run periodic content refreshes and canonicalization to avoid duplicate content.
  • Monitor product performance in Google Search Console, GA4, Shopify Analytics and recommend page-level SEO experiments (titles, descriptions, badges).
  • Coordinate with design/photography for image briefs and with devs for Liquid/UX fixes and template updates.
  • Build and maintain product content templates & SOPs for catalog scale (CSV templates, attribute mappings).
  • Implement basic technical SEO fixes (redirects/404s related to product moves, canonical tags, hreflang if needed).
  • Support marketplace/product feed exports (if selling on Amazon/Flipkart) with clean attribute mapping.


Must-have skills
  • Shopify Admin (listings, collections, CSV bulk uploads), comfortable with Shopify Liquid basics.
  • On-page SEO: keyword research, meta tags, headings, alt text, internal linking.
  • Familiar with Google Search Console, GA4, and an SEO tool (Ahrefs / Semrush / Screaming Frog).
  • Strong copywriting: converting product descriptions that balance SEO + UX.
  • Excel / Google Sheets: VLOOKUP, QUERY, ARRAYFORMULA, CSV manipulation.
  • Attention to detail: SKU hygiene, attribute consistency, schema validation (Rich Results Test).
  • Basic HTML knowledge and ability to liaise with frontend developers.
  • Ability to work fast and scale catalog processes.


Nice-to-have
  • Experience with Shopify Plus, metafields, and product customizers.
  • Experience with headless setups or PIMs (e.g., Salsify) and APIs for bulk operations.
  • Familiarity with CRO experiments (A/B testing product page elements).
  • Experience in spiritual / lifestyle / D2C categories is a plus.
