Shift Incharge - Process -Ferro Alloys Unit

Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose:

To manage and supervise all production activities of the ferro alloys plant during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth operations, product quality, safety, and adherence to production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift Operations:

* Supervise and control furnace operations (Silico Manganese / Ferro Manganese / Ferro Silicon) during the shift.

* Monitor process parameters such as temperature, power consumption, charge mix, and tapping operations.

* Ensure continuous and efficient operation of the furnace and auxiliary equipment.

* Coordinate with maintenance, electrical, and raw material departments for uninterrupted production.

2. Production Monitoring:

* Achieve daily production targets as per plan.

* Optimize power and raw material consumption to maintain cost efficiency.

* Record and report shift-wise production data, power log, and material consumption.

3. Quality Control:

* Ensure process parameters are within defined quality standards.

* Coordinate with the Quality Department to maintain desired product grade and composition.

* Take corrective actions in case of process deviations.

4. Manpower Management

* Supervise operators, helpers, and other shop-floor personnel during the shift.

* Allocate work and ensure discipline, safety, and productivity.

* Conduct shift handover and briefing at the start and end of every shift.

5. Safety & Compliance:

* Enforce adherence to safety standards and PPE usage.

* Report any unsafe act or incident immediately.

* Ensure compliance with environmental and statutory norms.

6. Coordination & Reporting:

* Communicate with the next shift, production planning, and plant management regarding operations, breakdowns, and performance.

* Prepare and submit shift reports with all key performance indicators.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification & Experience:

Qualification: Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering

Experience: 37 years in ferro alloys production (preferably in Submerged Arc Furnace operations)

Key Skills & Competencies:

* Strong knowledge of ferro alloy furnace operations and raw materials (Mn Ore, Coke, Quartz, etc.)

* Familiarity with process control, tapping, and slag handling.

* Leadership and team management skills.

* Analytical and problem-solving ability.

* Basic knowledge of power and maintenance coordination.

* Safety awareness and discipline.
