Senior Software Developer - Alation Admin

Key Skills:

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage user roles, groups, and assign required privileges.
• Collaborate with vendors to understand and influence the Alation roadmap, including use cases and feature requests.
• Schedule MDE Data Sampling QLI and onboard new projects into the Alation platform.
• Create and manage Alation domains, sub-domain documents, and hubs.
• Set up new connectors or data sources and configure SSO/SAML authentication for the Alation platform.
• Sync LDAP with security groups and roles.
• Upload data dictionaries for bulk curation through the GUI.
• Coordinate with the Alation vendor for product bugs, capabilities, feature requests, and bug fixes.
• Prepare and maintain a tracker for configuration changes and performance tweaks.
• Review Alation API access and grant appropriate access on a case-by-case basis.

Skills Required:

• Strong hands-on experience in Alation Administration, including platform configuration, user and role management, and system monitoring.
• Proficiency in managing data catalogs, domains, metadata ingestion, and data governance processes within the Alation platform.
• Familiarity with API integrations, particularly using Alation APIs for custom automation, data extraction, and curation.
• Experience configuring SSO/SAML authentication and integrating Alation with enterprise identity providers.
• Knowledge of LDAP synchronization, including managing security groups and role assignments.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot connectors/data sources and manage system-level tasks such as upgrades and patching.
• Understanding of security models and best practices for role-based access control (RBAC) and data protection.
