Senior Payroll Specialist

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multi-state employees, including exempt, non-exempt, and hourly staff.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Administer payroll in alignment with benefits, garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and other special pay programs.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end reporting (W-2, 1099, etc.).
• Serve as the subject matter expert on payroll regulations, staying up to date with legislative changes affecting multi-state payroll.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure accuracy in employee data, benefits deductions, and accounting entries.
• Manage payroll system upgrades, integrations, and enhancements with HRIS and financial systems.
• Develop and implement payroll policies, controls, and audit procedures to maintain data integrity.
• Respond to and resolve payroll inquiries from employees with a high level of customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5-8+ years of payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of

  multi-state payroll tax laws, wage & hour compliance, and labor regulations

• Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycor, Paycom, or similar).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to manage confidential data with integrity and discretion.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working across departments and with employees.
