Role Overview

The Senior Merchandiser will manage end-to-end merchandise planning, sampling, production coordination, vendor management, and stock optimization for a luxury/designer couture label. The role requires strong understanding of high-fashion garments, couture craftsmanship, trends, draping, and premium client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development & Sampling

• Work with the designer on new collection development, mood boards, silhouettes, and fabric selection.
  
• Manage sampling calendar, cost sheets, swatch approvals, and product specifications.
  
• Coordinate embroidery, handwork, tailoring, and finishing teams.
  

2. Production Merchandising

• Plan and monitor production orders for couture, bespoke, and prt lines.
  
• Track work-in-progress, ensure timelines, and maintain production TAT.
  
• Conduct quality checks at every stage: fabric, embroidery, stitching, finishing.
  

3. Vendor & Material Management

• Source fabrics, trims, embellishments, artisans, and surface-work vendors.
  
• Negotiate costs, monitor vendor performance, and maintain procurement budgets.
  
• Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid any production delays.
  

4. Inventory Planning

• Plan inventory for flagship store and pop-ups based on sales trends.
  
• Maintain optimum stock levels of best-sellers, seasonal pieces, and couture samples.
  
• Coordinate with store team for replenishment and special orders.
  

5. Client Customisation Coordination

• Work with sales/stylists on customised/bespoke orders.
  
• Prepare costing, measurement sheets, customization details, and delivery timelines.
  
• Coordinate trials, alterations, and finishing for premium clients.
  

6. Reporting & Analytics

• Maintain MIS for sampling, production, fabric consumption, and order tracking.
  
• Track collection performance and recommend reorder or redesign.
  
• Prepare costing sheets and margin reports.
  

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of couture garments, luxury fabrics, drapes, and handwork techniques.
  
• Expertise in sampling, production Follow-up, and vendor management.
  
• Strong costing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  
• Ability to multitask across couture & prt timelines.
  
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  

Education

• Graduate in Fashion Design / Fashion Technology / Apparel Production / Merchandising preferred.
