Senior Manager, Steel Sourcing

As the Senior Manager, Steel Sourcing at Nextracker based in Hyderabad, India, you will report to the India Steel Sourcing Director. Your primary responsibility will be to reinforce the Indian sourcing team and support the development of steel suppliers in the Region. The Sourcing department aims to drive the Total Cost of Ownership by implementing category/region/supplier-specific strategies and establishing strategic relationships with core suppliers. You will manage a portfolio of suppliers in the country and focus on driving the Cost of Ownership for steel and other products under your oversight. Your role will involve: - Understanding technical and economic product requirements and specific project needs - Developing a sourcing strategy to optimize cost/quality, meet demand, and fulfill all necessary requirements - Collaborating with Sales/Planning to review demand trends - Negotiating, closing, and managing long-term master supply agreements aligned with the sourcing strategy - Establishing and nurturing executive-level relationships with key stakeholders in the Indian value chain, including steel mills and manufacturers - Analyzing markets, conducting supplier screening and qualification, and managing Requests for Quotation (RFQs) - Assessing supplier performance quarterly with the support of a Sourcing analyst Qualifications required for this position include: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in sourcing within the Indian steel industry - Advanced negotiation skills and strong knowledge of commercial contracts in the Indian steel sector - Experience with Indian manufacturers, particularly flat steel mills, tubing and stamping companies, and service centers - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint - Ability to report and present strategies at an executive level - Advanced communication skills in written and verbal English - Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills due to the remote nature of the team and suppliers Preferred experiences for this role include being results-oriented, adaptable to ambiguity, autonomous, willing to travel regularly, and having prior experience in a multicultural environment.
