Job Description

As a Laboratory Chemist specializing in coatings and films, your primary responsibility will be to conduct laboratory tests to assess the performance of new products and formulations such as acrylics, polyurethanes, etc. You will evaluate factors including adhesion, durability, film formation, color consistency, and environmental stability. Your expertise will be essential in recommending coating and film application techniques, covering substrate preparation, curing, drying, and various application methods like roll coating, screen printing, and spray applications. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be a key aspect of your role as you work together to optimize formulations for production scalability, quality control, and meeting customer requirements. Understanding the specific needs of customers and customizing products for unique applications will be crucial. Additionally, you will be responsible for competitor sample analysis, creating reports, and maintaining thorough documentation of assigned projects. Staying updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulations related to coatings, inks, and films will also be part of your responsibilities. To excel in this role, you should have a strong background in chemistry, polymer science, material science, or a related field, with a focus on coatings and their applications. Practical experience in application testing for coatings on films like BOPP, BOPET, PE, and PET is required. Familiarity with application equipment and processes such as printing, coating lines, curing, and drying is essential. Your ability to analyze and interpret complex data to enhance product performance, along with problem-solving skills to address customer issues and improve product efficiency, will be highly valuable. Excellent communication and presentation skills will be necessary for effective collaboration across different teams and presenting your findings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is also a must. Technical proficiency in coating application techniques like roller coating, printing, spray coating, dip coating, and brush application is a key requirement. Knowledge of surface preparation, priming, and curing processes, including air drying, oven curing, and UV curing, will be beneficial. Understanding environmental regulations such as FDA compliance, VOC content limits, REACH, and other safety standards in coatings is essential. Your educational qualifications should include a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Surface Chemistry, Materials Engineering, or Coating Technology. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the relevant field is preferred to ensure a strong foundation for success in this role.,
