Senior Engineer - Sourcing (Vehicle Exterior Parts)

Key Responsibilities

1. Sourcing Process Execution & Negotiation

• Understand Specification & Requirements:

  Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to thoroughly understand technical specifications, quality standards, and material requirements for new and existing exterior parts.

• RFQ/RFI Preparation:

  Prepare and float detailed Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quote (RFQ) packages to potential and existing suppliers for designated commodities.

• Cost Negotiation:

  Lead and execute detailed

  Cost Negotiation

  with suppliers, utilizing cost breakdown sheets and should-cost models to achieve competitive pricing and annual cost savings targets.

• Supplier Selection:

  Analyse quotes, technical proposals, and commercial terms to recommend the optimal supplier based on the

  Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

  model.

2. Supplier Management & Quality Assurance

• Supplier Identification & Audit:

  Proactively research and identify new, capable suppliers. Participate in technical and process

  Supplier Audit

  activities to assess their capacity, quality systems (IATF 16949), and manufacturing readiness.

• Contract Management:

  Support the Manager in executing supply agreements and contracts, ensuring favourable commercial terms and mitigating supply chain risks.

• Supplier On boarding:

  Manage the technical and logistical process of

  Supplier On boarding

  , ensuring the timely completion of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and

  PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

  for all new components.

• Risk Mitigation:

  Monitor supplier performance (Quality, Delivery, and Cost) and proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain.

3. Operational & Commercial Control

• PO Preparation:

  Generate, issue, and manage Purchase Orders (PO) accurately based on finalized contracts and material planning requirements.

• Develop Sourcing Strategy:

  Assist the Sourcing Manager in developing and implementing tactical sourcing plans for commodity groups to secure volume commitments and long-term cost advantages.

• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):

  Maintain professional and productive relationships with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives (VAVE) and ensure priority support.

4. Technical Expertise

• Domain Focus:

  Apply deep technical knowledge of materials and processes used for exterior parts (e.g., Injection moulding, Painting, Chrome Plating, Sheet Metal Stamping) to challenge supplier costs.
