Job Responsibilities Senior Quality Engineer
1. Leadership in Quality Strategy and Compliance
Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of the company s quality management system (QMS) in accordance with applicable industry standards such as ASME, EN, ISO, and customer-specific requirements. Ensure alignment with Enpro s Vision, Mission, and strategic objectives.
2. Review of Customer and Contractual Requirements
Oversee the review and interpretation of customer contracts, technical specifications, and quality requirements. Ensure these are clearly communicated and implemented across relevant departments to maintain full compliance throughout project execution.
3. Inspection and Test Plan Oversight
Approve and monitor the development of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring all inspection stages, quality checkpoints, and verification requirements are defined and executed effectively. Ensure timely involvement of third-party/customer inspectors at hold and witness points.
4. Welding and Process Compliance Management
Ensure welding processes comply with WPS, PQR, and WQR, and that welding activities adhere to applicable codes and customer requirements. Provide technical leadership in welding and quality processes, including dimensional inspection and code verification.
5. Technical Specification Review and Approval
Review, approve, and comment on technical specifications, drawings, and data sheets. Ensure engineering deliverables align with quality expectations, design codes, and customer requirements.
6. Materials and Certification Review
Lead the review process for material test certificates (MTCs), ensuring all materials meet specification requirements, are fully traceable, and comply with relevant design and contractual obligations.
7. Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Oversight
Oversee planning and execution of NDE activities including RT, MPT, VT, and LPT. Ensure these are performed by qualified personnel and are compliant with applicable standards.
8. Coating, Painting, and Surface Treatment Compliance
Ensure all painting, coating, and surface treatment activities comply with technical and project requirements. Provide guidance on surface preparation, DFT checks, holiday testing, and stainless-steel treatments such as pickling and passivation.
9. Quality Documentation and Dossier Control
Ensure preparation, accuracy, and completeness of all quality documentation, including quality dossiers, inspection reports, compliance certificates, and manufacturing records for final submission to customers or certifying agencies.
10. Audit Leadership and Regulatory Compliance
Lead internal and external quality audits including ISO audits, customer audits, and third-party inspections. Drive compliance and continuous improvement based on audit findings.
11. Non-Conformance and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Oversee the management of non-conformances (NCRs), customer complaints, and deviations. Ensure timely and effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
12. Continuous Improvement and Quality KPIs
Develop and implement quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce rework and rejection, and improve customer satisfaction. Monitor effectiveness of implemented actions and adjust strategy accordingly.
13. Cross-Functional and Customer Coordination
Act as the primary interface between the quality department and other internal departments (Design, Production, Procurement, etc.) and external stakeholders (Customers, TPI, Certification Bodies). Resolve quality-related issues, drive consensus, and ensure project alignment.
14. Team Development and Capability Building
Lead and mentor the quality team by providing technical training, performance feedback, and career development support. Ensure competence and qualification of quality inspectors, NDE personnel, and welding coordinators.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering.
Minimum 6 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, with at least 3 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Expert knowledge of quality systems, welding processes, inspection methods, and international standards (ASME, EN, ISO, SSPC/NACE).
Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
Proficiency in quality management tools (ERP/QMS), MS Office, and audit techniques.
Hands-on experience in customer interaction, third-party coordination, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and building quality-focused teams.
