Job Description

Job Description:
The Senior Embedded Engineer – BMS will be a core member of the R&D team, responsible for the complete lifecycle of high-voltage Battery Management Systems (BMS) for marine electric solutions. The candidate will design, develop, and implement hardware and firmware, ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity of the systems. This role involves close interaction with sensors, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces, along with testing, validation, and documentation of BMS systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement hardware and firmware for real-time, microcontroller-based BMS.
  • Ensure BMS design meets stringent safety standards (ISO, functional safety) and optimal performance requirements.
  • Develop and optimize critical BMS algorithms, including State-of-Charge (SoC), State-of-Health (SoH), cell balancing, and thermal management.
  • Interface with analogue and digital hardware, including current, voltage, and temperature sensors.
  • Work with communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, and I2C.
  • Create and execute testing protocols, including unit, integration, and full system validation on both bench and field.
  • Maintain meticulous design documentation, source control, and release management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of BMS design with product and project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in BMS design and development or related circuits.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex, PIC, DSPs) and peripherals.
  • Proven experience with CAN protocol and other automotive/marine communication standards.
  • Knowledge of battery cell chemistry (Li-ion, LiFePO4) and cell monitoring ICs (e.g., Texas Instruments, Analog Devices).
  • Proficiency with hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Job Profile:
  • Position: Senior Embedded Engineer – BMS
  • Department: R&D / Electrical Systems
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in BMS or related embedded systems development
  • Educational Background: Bachelors or Masters in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field
Job Location:
  • Cherthala (Panavally), Navalt R&D
Compensation:
  • Salary: Competitive (based on experience and skills)
