SENIOR ELECTRICIAN

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, perform, and coordinate the installation, maintenance, and repair of hospital electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, backup generators, fire alarms, and medical equipment connections.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and provide prompt corrective action to minimize downtime.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
• Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes, hospital protocols, and safety standards.
• Maintain documentation for electrical systems, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with biomedical engineering, HVAC, plumbing, and IT departments to ensure integrated system functionality.
• Lead and mentor junior electricians and maintenance technicians.
• Assist in planning and budgeting for electrical projects and upgrades.
• Support emergency response readiness for electrical faults, power outages, and critical systems failure.
• Participate in regular inspections and safety audits.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
• Valid Electrician License/Certification (State or National, as required).
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare or commercial facility.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, testing equipment, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA 99, etc.).
• Familiarity with hospital systems such as nurse call, medical gas alarm panels, UPS, and emergency generators.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
• Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.

Working Conditions:

• May require on-call duty, night shifts, and weekend work.
• Physically demanding: requires climbing ladders, lifting equipment, working in tight spaces, and standing for long periods.
• Exposure to electrical hazards and hospital environmental conditions.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with hospital-grade electrical systems and standards (e.g., isolation panels, redundant power systems).
