Senior Design Engineer

As a Senior Design Engineer specializing in Security & Turnstile Systems, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of security access control products, particularly mechanical turnstiles, flap barriers, and swing gates. Your role will involve creating detailed 3D CAD models, assembly drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks/AutoCAD. Additionally, you will perform design calculations, stress analysis, and component selection for mechanisms, actuators, and structural parts. Collaboration with electrical, embedded, and firmware teams will be essential to integrate sensors, motors, and control systems. You will be tasked with optimizing designs for cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Working closely with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing teams will be necessary to validate design functionality, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement design improvements based on field feedback. It will also be part of your responsibilities to maintain engineering documentation and revision control, as well as stay updated with industry trends and suggest new materials, technologies, and manufacturing techniques. Your work will contribute to the innovation, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards of the products developed. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in designing turnstiles, access gates, or related security control systems. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, sheet metal design, drive mechanisms, and enclosure design is required. Proficiency in CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks, and familiarity with IP ratings, safety standards, and industrial design principles for public-use products are essential. Experience with prototyping methods, DFMA principles, and mechatronic systems including motor selection (BLDC/Servo), gear mechanisms, and feedback sensors will be beneficial. Strong communication and documentation skills are necessary for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Preferred qualifications include experience with access control integrations (RFID, biometric, face recognition), understanding of EMC, electrical enclosures, and international design standards (CE, UL, etc.).
