Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Role Overview: As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer at GoKwik, you play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, scalability, and resilience of the mission-critical databases. Your focus will be on designing and implementing strategies to maintain high performance, zero data loss, and minimal downtime. By fine-tuning SQL queries, optimizing performance, and enforcing governance policies, you will directly impact the secure flow of billions in GMV through the systems. Key Responsibilities: - Manage and optimize critical databases (Postgres, MongoDB, etc.) to ensure always-on performance at scale - Architect and implement HA/DR, backup, and recovery strategies for resilience by design - Partner with DevOps to enable DB-as-code deployments and automate patching, upgrades, and scaling using tools like Terraform/Ansible - Fine-tune SQL queries, indexing, and schema designs for efficiency in high-concurrency workloads - Proactively monitor databases, lead disaster recovery exercises, and ensure observability - Take ownership of database licensing, vendor relationships, and optimize spend - Enforce data retention, privacy, and governance policies to meet regulatory standards Qualifications Required: - 5 - 8 years of experience as a DBA/Database Engineer in high-scale SaaS or eCommerce environments - Expertise in relational (Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB) systems is mandatory - Hands-on experience with replication, sharding, clustering for scale and resiliency is mandatory - Experience with cloud-managed DB services such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL, Mongo Atlas is mandatory - Proficient in automating DB provisioning & management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug performance bottlenecks in production at scale Additional Company Details (if provided): GoKwik is backed by RTP Global, Z47, Peak XV, and Think Investments with a total funding of $68 million, including a $13 million growth round in June 2025.
