Job Description

The Qualys SaaS platform is database-centric, relying on technologies such as Oracle, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, and Ceph to deliver uninterrupted service to customers globally. We are seeking an individual who is proficient in two or more of these technologies and is eager to learn new technologies while automating day-to-day tasks. As a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE), your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation of production systems across various worldwide platforms. Collaboration with Development/Engineering, SRE, Infra, Networking, Support teams, and customers worldwide will be essential to provide 24x7 support for Qualys production applications and enhance service through database optimizations. This role will report to the Manager DBRE. Key Responsibilities: - Installation, configuration, and performance tuning of Oracle, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Redis, and Ceph in a multi-DC environment. - Identification of bottlenecks and performance tuning to maintain database integrity and security. - Monitoring performance and managing configuration parameters for fast query responses. - Installation, testing, and patching of new and existing databases. - Ensuring the proper functioning of storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures. - Understanding business applications to recommend and implement necessary database or architecture changes. Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of experience managing SQL & No-SQL databases. - Extensive knowledge of diagnostic, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools to improve database performance. - Understanding of database, business applications, and operating system interrelationships. - Familiarity with backup and recovery scenarios and real-time data synchronization. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. - Experience working in a mid to large-size production environment. - Working knowledge of ansible, Jenkins, git, and Grafana is a plus.,
