Job Title : Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Django) Experience Required: 6+ Years Employment Type: Full-time About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Python and Django to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems, optimizing performance, and modernizing legacy architectures. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build robust APIs and backend services that power our core products. Key Responsibilities Architect and develop scalable backend services using Python and Django. Optimize complex SQL queries and ensure high-performance access to large datasets using PostgreSQL or MySQL. Improve system performance by profiling, tuning queries, and optimizing memory and CPU usage. Manage asynchronous task queues with Celery and Redis, ensuring efficient background job execution. Maintain and refactor legacy codebases, including schema migrations and modularization of monolithic code. Design and implement RESTful APIs and follow best practices for scalable system architecture. Debug production issues across multiple services and environments. Collaborate with DevOps to manage CI/CD pipelines and deploy code efficiently using Git-based workflows. Must-Have Skills & Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on experience in backend software development with a strong focus on Python and Django. Deep understanding of relational databases and proven ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries. Proficient with asynchronous task management using Celery and Redis. Demonstrated experience in profiling and optimizing applications in production environments. Strong debugging skills and ability to diagnose issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers. Experience working with and improving large, legacy Django codebases. Solid understanding of RESTful API principles and backend architectural patterns. Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools and practices. Nice to Have Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, etc. Working knowledge of Docker and container orchestration platforms. Familiarity with microservices architecture and inter-service communication. Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like Pytest or unittest. Exposure to message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka. Understanding of backend security best practices (authentication, authorization, rate limiting). Open-source contributions or active involvement in tech communities. Show more Show less
