About the Role:

We are developing Confluent’s Cost Estimator platform, a strategic internal web application that empowers users with intuitive and reliable features for workload sizing, forecasting, scenario modeling, and operational efficiency. By enabling data-driven decision-making prior to resource deployment, it helps stakeholders plan proactively, optimize usage, and manage Confluent’s expenditures with confidence.

Applications Engineer at Confluent builds the internal tools and applications that empower our Solution Engineers and Account Executives to work smarter and faster. We seek a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys solving business problems with practical, maintainable solutions rather than building at massive consumer scale. This role is focused on developing internal-facing applications with a user base (~700+ employees), but with high business impact. You’ll own projects end-to-end, collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, and deliver intuitive, reliable, and secure applications that simplify workflows and drive productivity.

What You Will Do:

• Design and implement Cost Estimator Internal Web Application
• Work cross-functionally with Product Manager and Backend Engineers to deliver features
• Translate business requirements into reliable code using React, and tools like (Webpack, Babel, etc.), GoLang and Postgres
• Optimize applications for speed and scalability
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence throughout the team.
  

What You Will Bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
• 5 to 8 years of professional experience developing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade Full Stack solutions.
• Deep hands-on expertise with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, modern front-end frameworks (React), and expertise in backend technologies (GoLang).
• Strong knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms and excellent problem solving skills.
• Proficiency in designing, developing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL database
• Track record of leveraging cloud platform (AWS) and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for deployment of Web applications.
• Skilled practitioner of Agile development methodologies and comfortable using project management and collaboration tools.
• Recognized for successfully delivering projects independently and collaboratively within dynamic, cross-functional environments.
