Senior Academic Counselor

The Senior Academic Counselor is responsible for providing high-level academic, career, and personal guidance to students, developing and leading support programs, and collaborating with faculty and administration to foster student success and retention. This role often entails supervising junior counselors and driving best practices in academic advisory services.​

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic and career counseling to students, helping them set and achieve their educational and professional goals.
• Advise students on course selections, career pathways, academic policies, and progression requirements.
• Identify and address students’ academic and personal challenges, connecting them to resources as needed.
• Develop, implement, and lead counseling programs, workshops, and seminars on study skills, time management, and academic success strategies.
• Track and review student academic progress, and intervene proactively to support at-risk students.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of student counseling sessions, plans, and outcomes.
• Mentor and guide junior counselors, sharing expertise and ensuring the consistency of high-quality advisory services.
• Stay abreast of best practices, policies, and trends in educational counseling.​

Desired Qualifications

• Any graduation
• 1 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in academic counseling, student advisory, or related roles.
• In-depth knowledge of academic programs, compliance requirements, and student development.
• Proven leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to supervise junior staff.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for student success.
• Proficiency in MS Office, record management, and student information systems.​
