Introduction:
a) A security supervisor in Panimalar Medical College Hospital & Research Institute is a hospital oversees the security team and ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, students and staff. Their job description combines standard security management duties with specific responsibilities unique to a healthcare setting, which can involve dealing with emotional, high-stress, and emergency situations.
2) Key duties and responsibilities Team management and supervision: a) Conduct role call parade for all guards (male & female).
b) Conduct regular rounds and endorse check registers.
c) Update all registers (Occurrence, scooter etc.).
d) Observe and report all incidents and document the same.
e) Supervise, train, and schedule security guards, ensuring all posts are properly staffed.
f) Provide daily briefings, evaluate team performance, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
g) Handle disciplinary actions and all other security personnel matters.
h) Observe and relieve all guards and Supervisors for lunch and other breaks.
3) Security operations and patrols:
a) Oversee daily security operations, including foot and vehicle patrols of hospital buildings, grounds, and parking lots.
b) Supervise the main security control room, which includes monitoring CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
c) Perform security audits to identify and address potential risks and vulnerabilities.
4) Emergency response:
a) Act as a first responder to all emergency incidents, such as fires, medical alerts, and security threats.
b) Coordinate with internal hospital staff and external emergency services, including law enforcement and fire departments.
c) Assist with hospital evacuations and disaster management plans when necessary.
5) Incident handling and reporting:
a) Report all MLC to respective police stations / Traffic / Control rooms.
b) Investigate all security incidents, breaches, and accidents.
c) Document incidents accurately in detailed reports for hospital management, risk management, and legal purposes.
d) Maintain and review all security logs and fire registers.
6) Patient and visitor interaction:
a) Enforce hospital rules and visitation policies by screening visitors and controlling access to restricted areas like ICUs and nurseries.
b) Use verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflict and handle verbally or physically aggressive individuals.
c) Provide customer service by giving directions and assisting visitors and staff.
