Job Description

A CCTV technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs closed-circuit television (CCTV) and surveillance systems, including cameras, monitors, DVRs/NVRs, and networking equipment. Key duties involve site surveys, cable routing, equipment configuration, system testing, user support, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Technicians also maintain records, collaborate with teams, and stay updated on industry advancements in CCTV technology. Core Responsibilities A CCTV operator monitors security camera systems to ensure the safety of people and property by identifying suspicious activities, responding to emergencies, and logging events. Key duties include operating cameras, storing and retrieving footage, maintaining detailed records, and alerting security personnel or authorities to threats or incidents. Core Responsibilities • Installation and Setup: Design, install, and configure CCTV systems and related hardware, including mounting cameras and routing cables. • Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform regular inspections and maintenance on existing systems, performing necessary upgrades to ensure optimal performance. • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues in CCTV systems, including cameras, monitors, and recording devices. • System Configuration: Program and calibrate analog and IP CCTV systems according to client requirements and system specifications. • Networking: Work with network equipment, including cables and connections, to ensure proper functionality of the surveillance system. • Site Surveys: Conduct site inspections to determine the most effective camera placements and to discuss client needs. • User Support: Provide technical support and training to clients on how to use their CCTV systems effectively. Required Skills and Qualifications • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of CCTV hardware, analog and IP cameras, digital video recorders (DVRs), network video recorders (NVRs), and networking principles. • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to identify and resolve system issues, from hardware malfunctions to software glitches. • Physical and Technical Skills: Competence with hand and power tools for installation, and the ability to work in various environments, including outdoors. • Computer Literacy: Basic familiarity with computer programs and systems for system configuration and monitoring. • Documentation: Skill in maintaining accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs. • Compliance Knowledge: Awareness of relevant safety standards and security protocols. • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. • Surveillance: Continuously monitor multiple CCTV camera feeds for suspicious behavior, potential crimes like theft or vandalism, and other security breaches. • Incident Response: React to emergencies by dispatching relevant security staff or emergency services, and providing them with accurate information from the footage. • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of all monitored activities, incidents, and camera operations, ensuring footage is correctly stored and retrievable. • Equipment Operation: Understand and operate the CCTV system's hardware and software, including controlling camera positions and managing recording functions. • Communication: Report issues and suspicious activities to supervisors, security teams, or law enforcement as required. Key Skills • Attention to Detail: A keen eye to spot unusual or potentially threatening situations on camera. • Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate and manage surveillance equipment and software. • Communication Skills: Clear and concise reporting to emergency services and internal security. • Observational Skills: Ability to make quick, informed decisions and observations based on live footage. • Calm under Pressure: Maintain composure and react effectively during high-stress situations or emergencies.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
