Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Responsible to ensure efficient section based operations in the maintenance of Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems by coordinating overall shift activities, managing preventive and breakdown maintenance, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, the role focuses on managing inventory, collaborating with vendors, upskilling the team, and driving digital transformation through special projects to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Section In-charge - Instrumentation - Copper Shift Activity Planning, Resource Allocation, and Safety Governance - Lead and coordinate daily activities of the C&I (Control and Instrumentation) maintenance team, ensuring seamless execution across shifts. - Plan and allocate resources, including manpower and tools, to optimize shift performance and meet production targets. - Monitor adherence to safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety and ensuring compliance with HSE standards during all maintenance activities. - Conduct regular safety audits and address potential hazards to maintain a safe work environment for the team. Preventive and Breakdown Maintenance - Oversee the execution of preventive maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules for systems such as DCS, PLCs, transmitters, sensors, and other instrumentation. - Supervise troubleshooting and repair activities during equipment breakdowns, coordinating with shift incharges to minimize downtime. - Ensure quick resolution of equipment failures by providing technical support and guidance to the shift teams. - Drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes, identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability. Shutdown Maintenance Execution - Plan and execute shutdown maintenance activities across all shifts, ensuring all necessary tasks for control systems are completed efficiently and safely. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams (operations and engineering) during shutdowns to align on priorities and minimize production disruptions. - Monitor post-shutdown inspections, ensuring systems are fully operational before resuming normal activities. - Ensure safety measures are in place during shutdowns, focusing on equipment isolation and task completion. Inventory Management and Spares - Manage the inventory of critical spares, ensuring sufficient availability of components such as sensors, PLCs, and DCS parts to support continuous operations. - Coordinate with procurement teams for timely ordering of spare parts, ensuring no shortages during key maintenance periods. - Conduct periodic audits of spare parts inventory, optimizing stock levels to avoid excess or shortages while controlling costs. Vendor Management and Training - Coordinate with external vendors for specialized maintenance services, ensuring timely delivery of required tasks and compliance with company standards. - Evaluate vendor performance in terms of quality and timeliness, ensuring effective collaboration on maintenance tasks. - Identify and implement training programs to upskill maintenance personnel, focusing on advancements in instrumentation technologies. - Mentor and develop the shift incharges, ensuring their technical growth and ability to handle complex maintenance activities. Special Projects and Digitization - Lead special projects focused on digitization, integrating new technologies and digital tools to enhance equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, and data-driven decision-making. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions that improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. - Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing the performance of control and instrumentation systems, including predictive maintenance techniques. - Contribute to the adoption of digital platforms for real-time monitoring of system performance, enabling proactive maintenance strategies. Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline. Work Experience (Range of years): 12-15 years of experience in maintenance operations in Copper Industry Certifications: Professional certification in Control and Instrumentation maintenance is preferred
