School Counselor

As a School Counselor at the School District of La Crosse, you will be responsible for: - Developing and managing a Comprehensive School Counseling Program to promote student success across academic, career, and personal/social development. - Collaborating with building staff to create a positive mental health and behavioral culture. - Facilitating problem-solving team meetings and supporting teachers in Co-Planning to Co-Serve Students. - Communicating effectively with families, especially regarding challenging student circumstances. - Participating in professional learning communities and providing in-service training for staff. - Using data to plan interventions, programming, and advance district priorities aligned with the Strategic Plan for Equity. - Serving on the crisis response team and responding to student issues. - Conducting small group and individual counseling sessions. - Consulting with outside providers and connecting students/families with appropriate resources. Qualifications required for this role include: - Wisconsin Certification 7054 School Counselor. Preferred qualifications for applicants: - Ability to collaborate with staff to address at-risk behaviors. - Prior experience with a diverse student population in a high school setting. - Expertise in trauma-informed practices, mental health awareness, and suicide prevention. - Knowledge of data analysis and presenting at various levels. - Understanding of equity in public education and creating equitable systems. - Working knowledge of Student Information Systems.
