Christel House India (CHI) is starting a school for under-resourced children in Khanavdi Village in Saswad, Pune, in partnership with Pune Zilla Parishad. The school is a proposed K–12 CBSE school and will cater to children from Khanavdi and nearby villages. The school is located approximately 7 km from Saswad town and 30 km from Pune city. JOB DESCRIPTION – SCHOOL COUNSELLOR The School Counsellor will support the holistic development and well-being of students, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Student Counselling: Provide individual and group counselling to address personal, social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that may affect academic performance and well-being. Academic Support: Assist students in setting academic goals, developing study skills, and addressing academic challenges. Collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure student success. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises such as bereavement, trauma, or behavioural challenges with immediate support, involving school leadership, parents, and external agencies when needed. Advocacy and Referrals: Advocate for students’ needs within the school and connect them with external mental health professionals or community resources when appropriate. Consultation and Collaboration: Partner with teachers, administrators, and parents to build a positive, inclusive school environment. Educational and Career Development Programs: Design and implement programs that promote character building, personal growth, social skills, and career readiness. Facilitating Discussions: Lead classroom sessions on moral dilemmas, ethical issues, and personal values, encouraging critical thinking. Role Modelling: Demonstrate values through actions and foster a supportive, respectful environment. Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain records of sessions, assessments, and interventions. Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements. Parental Engagement: Engage with parents on student progress and behavioural development, encouraging reinforcement of positive practices at home. Admissions Support: Conduct observations and assessments for KG admissions, generating individual reports. Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices, laws, and trends in counselling and education. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education: Postgraduate degree in Psychology / Clinical Psychology (mandatory). Experience: At least 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in schools, with a strong interest and proven ability to work with children and adolescents. COMPENSATION Rs. 50,000 per month (gross, negotiable) , commensurate with qualifications and experience.
