Job Description

Job Summary

The Sales Engineer at VEL Innovative will be responsible for managing B2B sales activities across digital platforms and direct client interactions. The role involves understanding customer technical requirements, providing engineering solutions, preparing techno-commercial proposals, and driving orders to closure while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Management & B2B Platforms

  • Handle and manage enquiries from B2B platforms such as IndiaMART, Justdial, ExportIndia, and other relevant portals.
  • Respond promptly to leads, qualify requirements, and convert enquiries into opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, interactions, and conversions in CRM or internal trackers.

2. Client Interaction & Requirement Analysis

  • Call and interact with clients to understand their technical requirements, application process, and expectations.
  • Conduct detailed discussions to identify pain points and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Visit client sites when required for better understanding of application, installation conditions, and process parameters.

3. Technical Evaluation & Engineering Support

  • Perform heat calculations and other engineering assessments to estimate power and capacity requirements.
  • Prepare layout diagrams, GA drawings, and conceptual layouts as per client site conditions.

4. Proposal & Offer Preparation

  • Prepare detailed technical offers with complete specifications tailored to client requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive techno-commercial proposals, including scope of supply, technical details, pricing, delivery timelines, and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate internally with design, production, and procurement teams for accurate costing and feasibility.

5. Order Closure & Follow-up

  • Submit proposals to clients and conduct regular follow-ups to drive order closure.
  • Negotiate technical and commercial aspects in coordination with management.
  • Track order status and support smooth transition from sales to execution teams.

6. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Act as a single point of contact for clients during pre-order and post-order stages.
  • Address client queries, clarifications, and technical concerns promptly.

7. Presentations & Meetings

  • Prepare technical and commercial presentations for client meetings, reviews, and management discussions.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and product demonstrations.

8. Tendering & Documentation Support

  • Support the tendering team by preparing technical documentation, compliance statements, datasheets, and BOQs.
  • Review tender requirements and ensure timely submission of accurate technical inputs.

9. Market Research & Marketing Support

  • Study market trends, competitor offerings, pricing strategies, and customer needs.
  • Suggest and implement new marketing strategies to improve lead generation and brand visibility.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and prepare technical drawings and layouts
  • Good understanding of techno-commercial aspects
  • Customer-centric approach with strong follow-up skills
  • Willingness to travel for client visits and site surveys
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in Sales

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in industrial equipment, heating systems, or engineered products
  • Familiarity with B2B portals and CRM tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple leads simultaneously

Minimum Qualification:

  • BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing/Electrical/Electronics
  • CGPA>6.5. No backlogs or arrears in any subject.
