Safety Engineer

1. Site Safety Compliance & Monitoring

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily safety inspections at the construction site.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety norms (BIS, NBC, Factories Act, OSHA guidelines where applicable).
• Monitor high-risk activities (work at height, scaffolding, lifting, excavation, hot work).
• Verify PPE usage across all site personnel.

2. Safety Planning & Documentation

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Safety Plans, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain updated safety documentation—incident logs, training registers, inspection checklists, PTW (Permit to Work) records.
• Ensure all contractors comply with the site safety management plan.

3. Incident Prevention & Investigation

Responsibilities:

• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Lead investigations of near misses, first-aid cases, accidents, and submit root cause analysis (RCA).
• Track trends and propose measures to minimize recurrence.

4. Safety Training & Awareness

Responsibilities:

• Conduct induction training for new workers and contractors.
• Organize regular tool-box talks, safety drills, and awareness campaigns.
• Ensure high-risk teams receive specialized training (scaffolding, electrical, lifting operations, confined spaces).

5. Contractor Safety Management

Responsibilities:

• Check contractor safety compliance before mobilization (PPE readiness, certifications, insurance, machinery fitness).
• Monitor contractor adherence to safety norms during execution.
• Enforce penalties for non-compliance and promote a culture of safety partnership.

6. Emergency Preparedness

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and test emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, assembly points).
• Conduct mock drills for fire, evacuation, and medical emergencies.
• Ensure proper signage and emergency response plans are displayed on site.

7. Regulatory & Audit Compliance

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with local labor laws and statutory safety requirements.
• Facilitate internal and external safety audits.
• Close audit observations within defined timelines.
