Safety Engineer

Department: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

Location : Hyundai Kefico India- Pillaipakkam’.

Reports To : Facility Manager (HOD)

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience required :8 to 10 years in OEM.

Budget : Max 8-9LPA

Job Purpose

To ensure a safe and compliant workplace by implementing safety policies, meeting statutory requirements, and promoting a culture of proactive risk management in all plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure 100% compliance with statutory safety regulations (Factories Act, OSHA,

ISO 45001).

• Maintain statutory safety records, licenses, and inspection documentation.

• Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and mock drills for employees and contractors.

• Perform Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

• Investigate accidents/incidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions.

• Inspect firefighting systems, PPE, and safety devices to ensure readiness.

• Coordinate with internal teams and authorities for safety-related approvals.

• Drive continuous improvement in safety KPIs and participate in safety committee meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/Degree in Engineering with Diploma in Industrial Safety (State Technical Board approved).

• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification preferred.

• 5–8 years’ experience in Safety/EHS function in manufacturing (Automotive preferred).

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of industrial safety laws & standards.

• Experience in HIRA, JSA, and incident investigations.

• Good communication & training delivery skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Ability to handle emergencies effectively.
