Job Description

Job Summary

The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising restaurant service operations, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining high service standards. The role involves coordinating with service and kitchen staff, managing the dining area, and providing personalized attention to guests for an exceptional dining experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service

  • Welcome guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
  • Present menus, explain daily specials, and assist guests with food and beverage selections.
  • Ensure timely service of food and beverages in coordination with service and kitchen teams.
  • Handle guest complaints or requests efficiently and report major concerns to the Manager.
  • Ensure all guests receive prompt, courteous, and professional service.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise and support waiters, runners, and stewards during service hours.
  • Assign daily side duties and ensure readiness of the restaurant before each shift.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings to communicate menu changes, special promotions, or VIP guests.
  • Ensure staff maintain grooming standards, discipline, and service etiquette.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the dining area, tables, and service stations are clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Monitor table setup, cutlery, glassware, and linen according to standards.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure accuracy and timeliness of orders.
  • Check guest bills before presentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain records of reservations, special requests, and feedback.

Sales & Upselling

  • Promote menu items, special dishes, and beverages to increase sales.
  • Suggest wine pairings or premium items when appropriate.
  • Participate in achieving outlet revenue and cost control targets.

Training & Development

  • Assist in training new staff in service standards and restaurant policies.
  • Continuously motivate the team to maintain high levels of guest service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or degree in Hotel Management or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in restaurant service, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Good knowledge of food, beverages, and service standards.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Pleasant personality and professional appearance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
