Job Description

Department/Unit:

  • Reporting To:

    Head of Refinery Operations
  • Direct Reports:

    Cell House Operator, Solution Management Operator, Cathode Stripper, Precious Metal Recovery Operator (if applicable)

Job Purpose/Summary:

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Shift Supervision:

    Lead and supervise a team of operators and technicians during the shift to achieve production targets for the Refinery unit.
  • Operational Monitoring:

    Continuously monitor electrolytic cell house operations, electrolyte parameters, and equipment performance.
  • Troubleshooting:

    Identify and resolve operational issues, deviations, or equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    Ensure all shift activities strictly adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially for chemical handling and electrical safety. Conduct regular safety checks and toolbox talks.
  • Resource Management:

    Coordinate anode charging, cathode harvesting, and electrolyte circulation. Manage shift resources effectively.
  • Quality Control:

    Ensure product quality parameters (e.g., cathode purity) are met and coordinate with the QC lab for sample analysis.
  • Reporting:

    Prepare accurate shift production reports, log operational data, and communicate critical information to the Head of Refinery Operations and relieving shift.
  • Team Leadership:

    Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to shift personnel. Foster teamwork and a proactive approach.
  • Coordination:

    Liaise with the Maintenance team for equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities planned during the shift.

  • Shift Cathode Production Volume (Tons)
  • Cathode Purity (Shift-wise)
  • Current Efficiency (Shift-wise)
  • Refinery Downtime (Shift-wise)
  • Electrolyte Parameters Adherence
  • Shift Safety Incidents

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Required Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in electrolytic refining operations, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or senior operator role.
  • Experience with specific refinery technologies and solution purification is highly desirable.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of

    electrochemistry

    and refining

    process principles

    .
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, flowsheets, and operational manuals.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for process and equipment.
  • Good

    leadership

    and

    communication

    skills.
  • Safety-conscious

    and adherence to operational discipline (especially chemical safety).
  • Proficiency in using DCS/SCADA systems for process monitoring.
