Role & responsibilities Job Summary The Recovery Specialist is responsible for managing and recovering delinquent accounts by contacting clients, negotiating payment plans, and coordinating with internal departments to resolve outstanding debts. This position requires strong communication, analytical, and negotiation skills to help reduce losses and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities Contact clients with past-due accounts via phone, email, or written correspondence. Analyze account histories and determine appropriate recovery actions. Negotiate repayment plans in accordance with company policy and regulatory guidelines. Monitor accounts to ensure compliance with payment terms. Collaborate with internal teams such as Customer Service, Legal, and Finance for account resolution. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications and payment agreements. Recommend accounts for escalation, legal action, or write-offs where necessary. Ensure adherence to data privacy and debt collection laws (e.g., FDCPA, GDPR). Provide regular reports to management on recovery performance and trends. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associates or bachelors degree preferred. 1–3 years of experience in debt collection, customer service, or financial services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with collection software/CRM systems. Strong organizational and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts.
