Real Estate Underwriter

As an Underwriter at Citi, you will play a key role in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions for new and existing clients. Your responsibilities will include analyzing businesses, interpreting finance needs, identifying strengths and risks, and making final credit decisions. Additionally, you will perform detailed financial analysis, industry research, and maintain compliance with Citibank credit policies and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: - Interface with and support bankers in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions - Prepare detailed written credit summaries for commercial applicants - Perform financial analysis, trend and ratio analysis, and interpret financial information - Conduct industry and geographical research as needed - Maintain a solid understanding of Citibank products and services - Ensure compliance with Citibank credit policies and regulatory standards - Identify process improvements and efficiencies to reduce costs and improve customer service levels - Provide backup support to Credit Underwriting Group Manager and mentor lower level Credit Officers - Assess risks in business decisions and drive compliance with applicable laws and regulations Qualifications Required: - 10-13 years of previous credit authority experience - Prior experience in a regulatory and compliance policy environment - Proven analytical skills in assessing financial statements, cash flow, and industry analysis - Knowledge of intermediate accounting theory and its practical application - Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills - Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications - Ability to work autonomously and within a team, dealing with complex issues and substantial impact Education: - Bachelor's/University degree, Masters degree preferred This job description provides an overview of the role of an Underwriter at Citi.
