RAC Technician

 Department: Production / Service Location: [Factory / Site / Field] Reporting To: Production / Service Engineer Job Summary The RAC Technician will be responsible for executing all refrigeration-related tasks in the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of Atmospheric Water Generators (AWG) and other cooling systems. The role involves hands-on work with refrigeration components, tubing, brazing, gas charging, vacuuming, leak testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities 1. Refrigeration Assembly & Installation- Assemble refrigeration circuits as per engineering drawings and SOPs.- Perform precise tubing, flaring, and connection of refrigerant lines.- Mount and connect compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion devices. 2. Brazing & Tubing Work- Carry out copper tubing fabrication and brazing using oxy-acetylene torches.- Ensure clean, leak-proof joints adhering to safety and quality standards. 3. Vacuuming & Gas Charging- Conduct deep vacuuming of refrigeration systems prior to gas charging.- Accurately charge refrigerant gases as required.- Maintain logs of vacuum levels, pressures, and refrigerant quantities. 4. Leak Testing & Quality Assurance- Perform nitrogen pressure tests and leak detection.- Record results and rectify leaks before final assembly. - Ensure compliance with QA parameters. 5. Troubleshooting & Maintenance- Diagnose and rectify faults in refrigeration systems.- Support installation and commissioning teams at customer sites.- Maintain records and suggest improvements. 6. Safety & Compliance- Follow safety norms for refrigerant handling and brazing equipment.- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Required Skills & Competencies- Strong hands-on refrigeration experience.- Skilled in brazing, leak testing, and gas charging.- Understanding of refrigeration principles.- Ability to read technical drawings.- Attention to detail and quality focus. Qualifications & Experience- ITI/Diploma in RAC or equivalent.- 2–5 years of relevant experience.- Preferred: Certifications in refrigerant handling or HVAC.
