Job Description – Interior Estimation / BOQ Engineer

Position: Interior Estimation & BOQ Engineer
Department: Projects / Estimation
Location: Chalakudy
Reporting to: Project Manager / Senior Estimator

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed BOQ (Bill of Quantities) for interior projects (residential, commercial, hospitality, etc.).
• Study architectural drawings, interior layouts, and specifications to understand scope of work.
• Conduct quantity take-off for civil, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, flooring, painting, and furnishing works.
• Collect and analyze material & labor rates from vendors and contractors.
• Prepare cost estimation sheets, including materials, labor, subcontractor charges, overheads, and profit margins.
• Work closely with design, procurement, and site teams to ensure accuracy in estimates.
• Assist in preparing tenders, quotations, and client proposals.
• Update rate analysis database for different works and materials.
• Coordinate with vendors for price negotiation & comparative statements.
• Support project managers in budget control and cost monitoring.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of interior works (civil, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, false ceiling, flooring, painting).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project / Primavera (for BOQ preparation & estimation).
• Knowledge of rate analysis, material specifications, and market rates.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural & interior).
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in interior estimation, quantity surveying, or BOQ preparation.
• Experience in working with interior contractors, consultants, or construction companies preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
