Quality Manager

Job Title: Quality Manager Industry: Glass Manufacturing Location: Kanagala, Belagavi, Karnataka Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control Reports To: Plant Head / Operations Head / Managing Director Job Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all glass products meet company and customer standards. The role includes establishing quality control procedures, managing inspection and testing processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Quality Systems & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 / relevant QMS systems for the Glass industry. Ensure compliance with BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and other regulatory and customer requirements. Lead internal and external audits and manage documentation for certifications. Inspection & Testing: Supervise incoming raw material inspection (e.g., silica sand, soda ash, cullet). Oversee in-process and final product inspection for optical clarity, dimensional accuracy, thickness, strength, and defects like bubbles, cracks, warping, etc. Implement SPC (Statistical Process Control) and other quality tools. Team Management: Lead the QA/QC team and train staff on quality standards and inspection techniques. Define roles and responsibilities within the team and ensure optimal performance. Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action: Investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective/preventive actions. Maintain CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) logs. Process Improvements: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methods. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D to improve product quality and process efficiency. Customer Interaction: Liaise with clients on quality expectations, complaints, and audits. Prepare quality reports and dashboards for management and clients. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain all records related to quality audits, inspection reports, test results, NCRs, and calibration of instruments. Prepare MIS reports for quality performance and trends. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Glass Technology preferred). 710 years of experience in quality management in the glass or similar manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of glass production processes (float glass, container glass, tempered glass, etc.). Familiarity with ISO, BIS, ASTM standards applicable to glass. Proficiency in quality tools – 7QC, SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Certifications: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Lead Auditor – ISO 9001 / ISO 14001
