Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving quality control systems and processes to ensure that products meet established standards of quality, reliability, and performance. This role involves managing inspection activities, coordinating third-party inspections, maintaining calibration systems, and supporting production and engineering teams to achieve compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control and Inspection

  • Train and guide Quality Inspectors on tool inspection, record maintenance, and calibration processes.
  • Coordinate and control Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities conducted by third-party inspectors, including review of NDE procedures and reports.
  • Monitor the performance of Quality Inspectors and third-party inspectors to ensure effective inspection and reporting.
  • Review inspection reports and approve the final release of products.

• Support production teams in First Article Inspections and customer product qualifications.

2. Quality Documentation and System Management

  • Review and ensure all quality documentation (Material Handbook, QMS, Procedures, Work Instructions, and Inspection Forms) is current and complies with the latest applicable standards (API/ISO).
  • Review engineering drawings prior to release for manufacturing and servicing.
  • Review purchase orders to ensure quality and specification compliance.

3. Calibration and Equipment Management

  • Ensure proper accountability, handling, and storage of Monitoring and Measuring Equipment (MME), including customer gauges and process equipment.
  • Oversee calibration activities internal (by Quality Inspectors) and external (by certified agencies)and maintain calibration records per applicable procedures.

4. Supplier and Material Quality

  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers and subcontractors; conduct periodic performance reviews.

• Verify and review documents and reports received with purchased materials.

5. Corrective and Preventive Actions

  • Initiate and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for product defects and customer complaints.
  • Ensure effective communication of nonconformances to affected personnel and departments.

6. Additional Responsibilities

  • Support other assignments as directed by the Operations Manager

Required Education and Experience:

• ITI / Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field preferred).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing workshop environment.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures.
  • Preparation and approval of Certificates of Conformance (COC).

• Maintenance of MME Master List and calibration records.

  • Internal calibration of ring gauges and review of calibration certificates.
  • Management of API gauge usage records.
  • Preparation of Special Process Qualification and Validation Certificates.
  • Inspection and registration of customer/external provider tools, gauges, and fixtures.

• Preparation of CAPA and supplier evaluation reports.

  • Working knowledge of API (7-1, 7-2, Q1) and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
