Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Control Adviso with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas for Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India (Fulltime)

The Role

1. Match inspection and expediting group manpower against current, potential and possible project workload. Identify requirements and arrange selection, recruitment and training of inspection and expediting personnel.
2. Recommend prime and alternate nominations for assigned project Inspection & Expediting positions.
3. Update job descriptions of direct reports..
4. Update inspection procedures, work practices and forms.
5. Maintain career summaries for direct reports.6. Approve personnel holiday and other absences, check and submit for approval business travel expenses for direct reports.7. Operate the Foster Wheeler appraisal system for direct reports, identifying training needs where required.8. Review and contribute to the development of project procurement execution plans to ensure adequate attention is paid to execution of inspection & expediting activities. 9. Develop project inspection strategies ensuring alignment with the project and procurement execution plans.10. Participate in the evaluation of an affiliate, regional office, agency for the execution of Inspection and Expediting activities and prepare documents to define the scope of work.11. Ensure that all inspection and expediting visits are properly coordinated with affiliates, clients, other inspection authorities/agencies and Suppliers as applicable. Liaise and coordinate with affiliates, client and/or external inspection authorities in all cases where inspection & expediting is to be carried out jointly12. Ensure that direct reports are adequately instructed as to the work to be performed, with particular reference to any critical areas or unique requirements of the project, equipment or materials to be inspected. 13. Ensure that inspection of equipment and materials is carried out in accordance with all purchase orders, requisitions and their referenced specifications, standards, procedures, and Supplier Inspection and Test Plans.14. Ensure, by adequate auditing, that direct reports carry out assigned duties in accordance with job descriptions, inspection procedure and work practices,15. Ensure that impartial inspection practices are observed, in order to maintain Suppliers respect and confidence. 16. Undertake duties of Project Chief Inspector, Project Inspection Coordinator, as required to provide necessary cover for project inspection execution. 17. Maintain liaison on inspection & expediting matters with Head- Procurement, HSEQS, Project, Engineering, as necessary.18. Maintain liaison with the inspection & expediting management of FW affiliate . 19. Monitor the overall performance across projects of inspection & expediting agencies and also the overall performance of agency personnel.20. Evaluate materials management system functionality with regard to recording, tracking and reporting of project inspection and expediting activities. 21. Periodically review and confirm appropriate use of surveillance grades on material requisitions. Coordinate and discuss with Engineering/Technology any comments regarding use of surveillance grades.22. Take the necessary action to resolve any inspection & expediting problems arising within (or) referred to the department. Refer any major problems to Head- Procurement.23. Support Head Procurement, in selection of inspection & expediting service providers

1. Graduate in Engineering ( Mechanical) ( Essential)


2. Qualified in NDE Practices like MPT, LPT, RT & UT, with valid ASNT Level II certification ( Essential)


3. Welding Inspector Qualifications in CSWIP (or) AWS ( Essential)


4. ISO 9000 Lead auditor certification would be an added advantage ( Desirable)

Experience:

1. Minimum 20 years of Technical inspection background in the oil and gas industry; preferably LNG, Petrochemical and refinery ( Essential)


2. Extensive knowledge of large scale EPC Project inspection and expediting coordination with customer facing focus ( Essential)


3. Planned, executed and reported project inspection and expediting activities, coordinating with project team, client, suppliers, inspection and expediting coordinators and agencies ( Essential)

The key objectives for this role are:

1. The accomplishment of all duties delegated by Head - Procurement.


2. Responsible for Inspection & field expediting activities in the Procurement supply chain, to ensure that inspection and expediting of equipment and materials is carried out in accordance with all purchase orders, material requisitions, and their referenced specifications, standards, procedures, inspection plans, expediting plans, and supplier Inspection and Test Plans.


3. The competence, performance and effective use of inspection and expediting resources within man- hour and cost budgets.


4. Planning Project Inspection programmes around specific levels of surveillance


5. The coordination of external inspection and expediting activities required from Affiliates


6. Ensure that all work undertaken is accomplished in compliance with FW Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Corporate Policies and Policy Letters, procedures and work practices


7. Ensure that the content and objective of the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policy and the Information Security policies are implemented and understood by all supervised staff.
