Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge in Originations and Underwriting processes, demonstrating the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions that align with our organizational goals. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and profitability of our underwriting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and analyze loan applications, financial statements, and credit reports to determine the creditworthiness of applicants.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and make recommendations based on underwriting guidelines and policies.
• Collaborate with the Originations team to ensure a seamless process from application to approval.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in underwriting.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support underwriting decisions.
• Communicate effectively with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders to clarify information and resolve issues.
• Participate in training and mentoring junior underwriters to enhance team capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Originations and Underwriting processes having a minimum of 5 years of experience in US residential UW.
• Proficient in risk assessment and financial analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with underwriting software and tools.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the financial services industry.
• Experience in training or mentoring junior staff.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in underwriting or related areas are a plus.
• Demonstrated understanding of financial products and services.
