Purchasing Specialist

Role Overview: As a Purchasing Specialist at JLG, an Oshkosh company, you will play a crucial role in the cost-effective procurement of materials and services to support the start-up and ongoing operations of the new plant in Pune, India. Your responsibilities will encompass import purchasing in the initial phase, followed by local sourcing, supplier development, and material management as the plant progresses. You will collaborate with various departments and suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality materials while focusing on cost efficiency and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: - Manage international supplier sourcing, import documentation, shipping, and customs compliance during Phase I to ensure timely material availability for the new plant. - Support plant operations in Pune by ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing to facilitate production and maintenance. - Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring performance in delivery, quality, and cost. - Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and IPD Purchasing Specialists to align purchasing activities with production schedules and new product development requirements. - Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and long-term value. - Maintain accurate lead times, purchase orders, and supplier data in procurement systems. - Identify and implement improvements in procurement efficiency, including the use of digital tools such as EDI or barcoding. - Ensure compliance with company policies, business controls, and import/export regulations in all purchasing activities. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree. - 5+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or related experience. - Experience with import purchasing, international logistics, and customs compliance preferred. - Familiarity with purchasing policies, procedures, and business controls. - Background in manufacturing, operations, or engineering environments. - Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. - Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, plant-based environment.,
