Purchase Head

Responsibilities:

• *Reporting* To: Head –of Purchase-HOD
• *Role* *Objective* :
• To lead end-to-end purchasing and sourcing for assigned commodities ensuring cost competitiveness, supplier development, quality, and timely availability of materials to support manufacturing and new product development .
• *Key Responsibilities:*
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key commodity verticals (e.g., Steel, Rubber, Plastic, Non-ferrous, Tubes, or Machined Components).
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are achieved.
• Negotiate commercial terms, long-term agreements, and annual rate contracts with suppliers.
• Drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, localization, and alternate sourcing.
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production teams for supplier development and new part introductions.
• Monitor market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and global commodity indices.
• Ensure procurement compliance with company policies, quality standards, and sustainability guidelines.
• Manage supplier performance through defined KPIs (OTD, quality, cost reduction, responsiveness).
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting for the commodity spend.
• Ensure timely resolution of supplier issues and maintain strong vendor relationships.

• Deep understanding of manufacturing commodities and their cost structures.
• Analytical mindset with exposure to cost-breakdown and should-cost analysis.
• Supplier management and development capability.
• Knowledge of SAP / ERP procurement modules.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Qualifications & Experience:
• Education: B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical / Industrial / Production) with MBA in Supply Chain or Operations preferred.
• Experience: 15+plus years of experience in strategic sourcing / commodity purchase within the automotive or engineering industry.
• Proven experience in managing large commodity spend and supplier base.
• Preferred Industry:
• Automotive components, Tubes & Assemblies, Metal Forming, Rubber or Plastic components manufacturing.
