PSS Engineer

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage electrical equipment and systems at Pooling Substations (PSS) including switchgear, transformers, busbars, and protection systems.
  
• Coordinate inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical components in PSS.
  
• Track material procurement, invoices, and ensure timely availability of spares and consumables for PSS maintenance.
  
• Oversee routine and preventive maintenance activities for electrical systems at PSS.
  
• Liaise with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for smooth commissioning and operations.
  
• Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements for PSS operations.
  
• Maintain detailed records of equipment performance, maintenance, commissioning reports, and inventory.
  
• Support troubleshooting and fault analysis during operations to minimize downtime.
  
• Prepare technical reports and status updates for management.
  
• Implement best practices for operational efficiency and safety at pooling substations.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  
• 3-6 years’ experience in electrical operations, commissioning, or maintenance of substations, preferably pooling substations or EHV substations.
  
• Knowledge of electrical switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control systems used in substations.
  
• Experience in material tracking, procurement processes (PR, PO), and invoice handling is desirable.
  
• Strong understanding of safety standards, statutory regulations, and quality compliance in power sector.
  
• Good communication and coordination skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and SCADA.
  
• Familiarity with Electrical Maintenance Management Systems (EMMS).
  
• Proficiency in MS Office and ERP tools.
  
• Hands-on experience in commissioning and operational support of pooling substations.
