Role Overview
The Engineering Manager / Project Manager will lead end-to-end engineering, design coordination, and project execution for large-scale Data Centre projects across Europe. The role requires strong cross-disciplinary engineering leadership, techno-commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and the ability to drive productivity, quality, and timely delivery in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Engineering Leadership
- Lead overall engineering management for data centre projects covering
MEP, civil, structural, architectural, plant systems, and infrastructure
. - Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across
BIM, 3D modelling, detail engineering, clash detection
, and digital engineering workflows. - Ensure compliance with European design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
2. BIM & Technical Coordination
- Oversee BIM execution strategy, model development, version control, and integration with engineering deliverables.
- Facilitate coordination between engineering, architecture, construction, and vendors to ensure design accuracy and constructability.
- Resolve interdisciplinary technical queries and drive model-based reviews for optimized design efficiency.
3. Project Planning & Productivity
- Develop and manage project schedules, engineering deliverable plans, and resource allocation for distributed teams.
- Drive productivity KPIs, workflow automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to achieve milestone targets.
4. Techno-Commercial Management
- Support proposal development, estimation, BOQ preparation, and technical bid evaluations.
- Lead contract negotiations, vendor finalization, and value engineering discussions.
- Manage procurement interfaces to ensure alignment with project specifications, budgets, and lead times.
5. Cost Control, Billing & Invoicing
- Track project budget, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses.
- Manage monthly invoicing, change orders, claims, and cost variance reporting.
- Ensure accurate documentation and customer approvals for progressive billing.
6. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Implement QA/QC processes across all engineering deliverables, ensuring adherence to project specifications and standards.
- Conduct technical audits, design reviews, and risk assessments.
- Ensure HSE compliance across engineering and site-related deliverables.
7. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary engineering interface with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Present progress reports, technical solutions, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Build strong working relationships to ensure project alignment and customer satisfaction.
8. Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performance engineering teams.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Support training in BIM, digital engineering, and modern project delivery methods.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Structural / Industrial).
- 18–25 years of experience in engineering, design management, or project management.
- Proven track record in delivering
data centre / mission-critical / industrial
projects in Europe or similar advanced markets. - Strong knowledge of
BIM tools
(Revit, Navisworks, 4D/5D tools), engineering standards, and multidisciplinary integration. - Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making abilities.
- Deep understanding of
techno-commercial
, cost control, and contractual aspects.
BIM Skills
- Extensive practical experience in BIM-based project delivery across design, coordination, and execution workflows.
• Hands-on expertise in managing BIM models for architectural, structural, and MEP systems. • Strong command of Navisworks and Solibri for clash detection, model validation, issue tracking, and coordination meetings. • Proficient in implementing and managing BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environments for collaboration, document control, and model sharing. • Ability to drive BIM execution plans (BEP), model audits, version control, and multidisciplinary integration. • Experience using BIM for design reviews, visualization, quantity extraction, constructability analysis, and project delivery optimization.
